On 8. of June 2007 the most important German and European awards for didactical multi media products were granted in Berlin. It was the 12th time that the representatives of all big ald well known software and edicational houses accepted the invitation of the Gesellschaft für Pädagogik und Information e.V. (GPI) to the capital „By means of the Comenius-EduMedia Awards the GPI supports multi media producats which as to their pedagogical structure, contents and design are of particular value“. It could be seen that the Comenius Awards in the meantime have become a well established awards for CD-roms, DVDs, internet sites and other IT-based educational media. After 12 years the contents and the didactical concept are the most important aspects. The decisions in the media contest were taken along didactical and scientific evalutations in a neutral evaluation process. The decision on the Comenius Awards for exemplary didactical multi media products were taken in a two-tier process. The decisions were taken by an internationally staffed jury of experts coming from the media in 9 European countries.
About 170 applications were interested in the popular European multi media awards in 2007. The number of applications for the Comenius-EduMedia Awards has compared to the beginnings of the granting of the awards in 1995 been multiplied and spread all over Europe.
The participating countries in 2007 were Germany, France, Greece, The Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Czechia, Hungary
The Comenius-EduMedia Awards were given to 140 winners by the well known traditional Gesellschaft für Pädagogik und Information e.V. in 2007. 138 winners received the Comenius-EduMedia Seal which confirms that the authors and publishers are of a particular didactical and media quality.The Comenius-EduMedia Promotion Prize was granted twice. 23 times the jury granted the Comenius-EduMedia Medals for excellent and exemplary mulit media products, a prize which is particularly popular with publishers and producers.
The large number of participants and the increased quality of the products prove that the importance of E-learning and B-education has much increased in various educational institutions and in the process of life long learning. „ In 2007 an increasing trend in relation to interactive and multi media learning systems as far as the content of multi media products for ethical, contemporary and inter cultural education could be discerned“.
